Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 2025
DarLink (referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use and share it, and your rights concerning that data when you use the DarLink app, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using DarLink, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
When you use DarLink, we may collect several types of information:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect personal details such as your name, email address, and login credentials. We use this information to set up your profile and secure your access to the Service.
- Profile Details: You have the option to provide additional information like your gender, date of birth, and interests or hobbies. We use these details to personalize your experience with your virtual friend.
- Content and Communications: We store the content you create on DarLink, including text or voice messages and any images you send during chats with your virtual friend. This allows you to maintain an ongoing conversation history. We may also analyze this content (for example, using automated tools to recognize objects in images or context in chats) to improve responses and features. Note: Your one-on-one conversations are private and are not shared with other users.
- Device and Usage Data: We automatically collect data about the devices you use and how you interact with our Service. This includes your device’s unique ID, operating system, browser type, IP address, language and region settings, and your Internet service provider, as well as timestamps and logs of your sessions. We use this data to ensure compatibility, optimize performance, and understand usage trends to improve DarLink.
- Cookies and Tracking: On our website (and relevant parts of the app), we use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, improve your experience, and analyze traffic. We also allow trusted partners (like Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel) to use cookies for analytics and advertising purposes, subject to their own privacy policies. You can adjust your cookie settings through your browser; however, disabling cookies might affect some features of the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Personalize the Service: We process your information to create and manage your account and to enable core features such as interacting with your AI companion. Your profile details and past interactions help us tailor the virtual friend’s responses and behavior to you personally.
- To Improve Our Platform and AI: Data from your interactions (e.g., conversations and usage patterns) helps us refine our artificial intelligence models and enhance DarLink’s features. We may analyze chats and feedback to fix issues, develop new functionalities, and generally improve your experience. (For instance, we might train our AI on anonymized conversation data to improve response quality.)
- To Communicate with You: We use your contact information to send important account updates (like password reset instructions or security alerts) and to inform you about new features or promotions. You can opt out of promotional emails at any time.
- To Process Payments (if applicable): If you choose to subscribe to premium features or make purchases through DarLink, we will use the necessary personal and payment information to process those transactions. (Payment details are handled securely by our payment processor and are not stored on our servers beyond what is necessary for record-keeping.)
- To Ensure Safety and Compliance: We may monitor activity on the platform to prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect the safety of our users. This includes using automated systems to detect and filter out content that violates our policies or is illegal. We also use your data as needed to comply with applicable laws and to cooperate with authorities if required.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties. We only share your information in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We share data with trusted third-party companies that help us operate and support the Service. These include services for website hosting, cloud storage, data analytics, customer support, email delivery, payment processing, and image or voice recognition. Each provider only receives the information necessary to perform its specific services for us, and they are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for our purposes.
- Affiliates: If DarLink is part of a group of related companies, we may share your information with our parent company, subsidiaries, or other affiliates who follow practices consistent with this Privacy Policy. We do this to improve your experience and to integrate with other services that we or our affiliates provide.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request (such as a subpoena or court order). We may also share information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, investigate fraud or security issues, protect your safety or the safety of others, or respond to a government request.
- Business Transfers: If DarLink or FameLink SA undergoes a business transaction like a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your personal data may be transferred as part of that deal. If such a transfer occurs, we will ensure that the new owner uses your data in line with this Privacy Policy (or we will notify you if privacy practices change).
- Aggregated Information: We may also share information that has been aggregated or anonymized (so it does not identify you personally) with third parties for legitimate business purposes. For example, we might compile user statistics or engagement trends to explain our services to partners, or publish general usage trends. This information will not include any personal data that could be used to identify you.
4. Your Rights and Choices
You have certain rights and options regarding your personal information:
- Access and Update: You can access and update the personal details you provided by logging into your account settings. We encourage you to keep this information up-to-date.
- Account Deletion: You have the right to delete your DarLink account and the personal data we have about you. You can delete your profile via the app/website settings, or by contacting our support team for assistance. When you delete your account, we will remove your personal data from our active databases. (Please note that some residual data, such as backup archives or records we’re legally required to keep, may remain for a period of time until those archives are overwritten or deleted as part of our regular data management processes.)
- Marketing Opt-Out: If you signed up to receive promotional emails or newsletters, you can opt out at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in those emails or changing your communication preferences in your profile settings. Even if you opt out of marketing messages, we may still send you essential communications about your account or transactions.
- Cookie Preferences: You can manage or disable cookies through your web browser settings. You may also use browser extensions or opt-out tools provided by some third parties to control certain tracking. Keep in mind that blocking cookies might impact some features of our Service.
- European and International Users: If you are located in the European Union or in other regions with data protection laws, you have additional rights under laws like the GDPR. These rights may include the right to access the data we hold about you, to rectify (correct) or erase your data, to restrict or object to certain processing of your data, and to request data portability (to receive a copy of your data in a usable format so you can transfer it to another service). You can also withdraw your consent at any time if we have asked for consent to process your information (your withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of any processing performed before you withdrew consent). Additionally, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your country if you believe we have violated your privacy rights. We are committed to honoring your rights and will respond to such requests in accordance with applicable law.
5. Data Security
We take the security of your personal information seriously. DarLink implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. These measures include encryption of data in transit, secure servers and databases, firewall protection, regular security audits, and restricting access to personal data to authorized staff who need it to perform their job.
However, please understand that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
User Responsibilities: You also play an important role in safeguarding your information. We urge you to use a strong, unique password for your DarLink account and to keep it confidential. Consider enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) if available, for an extra layer of security. Be cautious of phishing attempts and always verify that communications from DarLink are legitimate. If you suspect any unauthorized access or activity involving your account, notify us immediately so we can help protect your account.
6. Children’s Privacy
DarLink is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are under 18 years old, please do not use our Service or provide any information to us. In the event that we learn we have collected personal data from a child under 18, we will promptly delete that information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 18 has provided personal information to DarLink, please contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will post the revised policy here with an updated “Last Updated” date, and we may notify you through other means (for example, via email or a notice within the app). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of DarLink after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
